The Gan Foundation in figures, since 1987

  • Nearly 220 fimmakers supported
  • 30% women directors
  • 40 César Award-winning films, 21 Cannes awards and more than 500 distinctions in France and abroad
  • More than €30 million investment in cinema

For almost 30 years, the Foundation has been engaged alongside cinema entrepreneurs, and numerous young talented individuals have emerged thanks to its support. The Gan Foundation is one of the principal private partners in French cinema, supporting creators right up to the distribution of their works, thanks to the Aid for Creation and Aid for Distribution, which are its principal missions.

Aid for Creation :

Aid for Creation consists of yearly awards given to four feature-length films (first or second film projects) selected on the basis of their screenplays and awards one Special Prize.

Each film selected receives €53,000: €3,000 for the director and €50,000 for the producer. This aid can be increased by a further €25,000 thanks to existing partnerships with Panavision Alga, specialising in the rental of filming equipment, and post-production company Mikros Image.
Today, support from the Foundation is not only financial – it is also recognised as a mark of quality.

Aid for Distribution :

With its Aid for Distribution, the Foundation offers its support to various festivals, whether in the form of financial assistance, the organisation of professional meetings, or the award of a prize for distribution (€20,000 for the French distributor of a film or project that has been honoured by the Foundation).

It is within this framework that the Foundation is a partner of the Angers First Film Festival, the Cannes International Critics’ Week and the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
