Gari

In 2016, Groupama Loire Bretagne launched a POC on a dairy farm with a problem that needed solving, little resources and six months to implement a solution. The agricultural initiative was born! From January 2017, building on its experience in 2016, all regional mutuals also met the challenge to launch an agricultural initiative on the theme of connected objects. In January 2018, 300 Groupama employees and elected representatives congregated at the Agri Technologies Forum and discovered all1 the initiatives undertaken by the regional mutuals. The idea of the connected objects aggregator emerged through the KOMI initiative (POC on connected rearing) driven by Groupama Loire Bretagne. The Ferme Connectée [Connected Farm] project was launched to grow this POC and accelerated through the Techstars’ “Innovation Bootcamp” programme: six people defining the product, ambitions, etc. over six weeks. In September 2018, driven by the whole Groupama Group, a multi-disciplinary team embarked on an adventure to develop a service aggregator (six services = three free and three paid) to make available to farmers, and present it at the Agricultural Exhibition in February 2019. The Gari adventure was launched, and the promise “Gari: innovative services in a single application to watch over farming” defined. All regional mutuals were mobilised throughout the initiative, and since its launch, have mobilised their networks (sales and elected representatives) to promote and present Gari to farmers; Gari has thus reached 15,000 downloads in less than six months. Given that two out of three farmers use “significant” new technologies in their activities, such as connected objects, cameras, GPS, drones and satellite images, and that one in two wish to invest in at least one new technology they do not already have in the next two years, we can assume that the history of Gari is still to be written, especially at the end of 2019, with five new services to be discovered! 1 Connected oysters for GCA, the monitoring of vines by aerial imaging for GMED, connected irrigation lines for GCM, fodder probes for GOC and GGE, the precision weather station for GPVL, the connected belt for GRAA, the connected press for GNE and KOMI, and connected breeding for GLB.
