Groupama's cooperative DNA and long-standing commitment have always expressed themselves across the French territories - as illustrated by the testimonies in our latest annual report, On the Fields. Day after day, the Group brings together proximity, solidarity, and responsibility toward its policyholders and clients, thanks especially to its strong local presence. In early 2025, with support from In France - a company specialized in corporate data analysis - each regional mutual produced a territorial anchoring report. These documents offer a comprehensive view of our regional reach and the positive impact that our operations have locally. Spending on suppliers, claims, jobs... Discover how Groupama actively contributes to the economic vitality and sustainable development of French regions.

Groupama supports local and national economies

A Group’s approach to spending (on suppliers, claims compensation) directly affects the economic development of local areas. At Groupama, our spending practices reflect our dedication to the national economy:

  • 99.9% of expenditures from regional mutuals go to suppliers registered in France
  • 87.6% of purchases are made from suppliers operating within their own regional scope
  • 45% of Group purchases are made from micro and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) Groupama also prioritizes responsible procurement practices: evaluating carbon impact, favoring inclusive SMEs including those in the adapted work sector.
  • Sourcing remains primarily local, with an average supply distance of 134 km and 71% of spending occurring within 200 km
  • The Group is a member of the “Businesses Committed to Neighborhoods – PAQTE” initiative, a public program also aimed at boosting purchasing in disadvantaged geographical zones
  • The Groupama Purchasing Department has developed a catalog of STPA service providers accessible to all Group entities

A social dynamic that primarily benefits local areas

Beyond our positive impact on spending and purchasing, regional mutuals generate far-reaching employment effects. Groupama’s regional mutuals employ over 15,000 people – and each job within a regional mutual generates an additional 2.7 indirect and induced jobs across France. In total, for 2023, considering all direct, indirect, and induced employment, the regional mutuals contributed to 41,413 jobs across mainland France. On average, 92% of these jobs are created within the mutuals’ own regional scope. Moreover, 90% of all jobs are located outside the Île-de-France region, underscoring the vital role of the regional mutuals in economic development across French territories.
